Chikuma operates the following services for senior citizens over the age of 65. Fees are income assessed.

Welfare for People with Disabilities (障害者(しょうがいしゃ)福祉(ふくし) shogaisha fukushi)

There are various services available for those with disabilities. These aim to help with medical costs and provide tax and transport subsidies.

Low Income Benefits (生活(せいかつ)保護(ほご) seikatsu hogo)

This benefit is aimed at providing a minimum income to families or individuals who through illness, injury, unemployment or other reasons lose their ability to maintain an income, or suffer a reduction in income. This benefit is provided until the recipient is able to support themselves and their dependants. The payments received must be used for that purpose. This benefit is also dependent on the recipient working wherever possible, and is income and asset tested. For more information, please contact the Welfare Section of City Hall for advice.

For further information about any of the above services please contact the Welfare Section in City Hall.
